A Utopia Pandemic

Are these wicked winds

the Gods of the world

raging at us ignorant humans?

We are all vulnerable now

like the earth

A man’s labored breath echoes through a respirator

as a fish suffocates in a plastic bag

Confined behind the walls we built

Wheels no longer turning, airplanes no longer in flight

Young birds plunge through

their first taste of pure air

Mother nature freed to breathe again

swoops through the sapphire sky

taking in unobstructed views,

the mighty Himalayas in her sight

She tickles the bellies of fishes in Venice’s Canale Grande

and wishes upon the shimmering stars of a New Delhi cosmic night

The first trimester of the dream of Eden

A tease of Shangri-La

Humans and nature

A kindred friendship

held hostage by love
